Most reports on UK solar are written by people who sell it, surveys of people who bought it, or summaries of somebody else’s statistics. This one is built from the datasets we publish openly, which means two things.
Every figure can be checked. Each one names the file it came from, and the files are downloadable under licences that permit reuse. If you think a number is wrong, you can get the data and show us.
It only covers what can be measured. There is a long list of things this report does not tell you — what a battery costs, how fast one degrades, which installers do good work — because no source exists that we would stand behind. Those gaps get their own section rather than being filled with plausible guesses.
It is published once a year, free to quote, and we would rather be corrected than cited uncritically.
